Man Receives 2-Year-Old Speeding Ticket; Changhua Police Apologize and Cancel Fine

The Tianzhong Precinct of the Changhua County Police Department stated that they had misread old data, have apologized to the vehicle owner, and canceled the ticket. Mr. Chen told the media that he recently received a speeding ticket stating the violation occurred on May 10 of this year. He found it puzzling as he recalled being asleep at home at that time. He later discovered the evidentiary photo was dated May 10, 2024, a two-year difference. He noted that if people aren't careful, they might mistakenly pay the fine. The Tianzhong Precinct said that on May 10 of this year, an officer was conducting speed enforcement duties. During the process of reading the violation data for issuance, the officer mistakenly read old data from the same month and day in 2024 stored on the memory card, leading to the incorrect citation. After investigating the matter, the precinct immediately contacted the motor vehicle authorities to process the cancellation of the ticket, and called the vehicle owner to explain and apologize. The relevant tickets have all been canceled. The police stated that the precinct will subsequently strengthen officer training and enhance its review mechanisms, ensuring the verification of citation dates, vehicle numbers, and locations to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
