(CNA, Taipei, May 20) The Taipei stock market closed down 154.74 points today, ending at 40020.82 points. The May Taiwan Index Futures contract closed at 40078 points, a decrease of 162 points. Compared to the spot market, this represents a positive spread (contango) of 57.18 points. The Taiwan Futures Exchange had set the opening reference prices for the next two months' index futures contracts at 40240 for May and 40399 for June. The Taiwan stock market closed down 154.74 points today at 40020.82, with a trading turnover of NT$978.923 billion. The May Taiwan Index Futures contract closed at 40078 points, down 162 points, with a trading volume of 33,152 contracts.
