(CNA, Taipei, 20th, by reporter Yu Hsiao-han) The Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) has reported that due to a person trespassing on the tracks being struck by a freight train, the westbound main line between Songshan and Nangang is currently temporarily out of service. Trains are operating bi-directionally on the single eastbound line, causing delays for all services. The TRA stated that at 12:55 PM today, near the northbound departure signal on track 3 of Songshan Station, a person intruded onto the tracks and was hit by freight train No. 7502. The westbound line between Songshan and Nangang is temporarily closed, with operations continuing on the single eastbound line. Railway police and emergency services (119) were immediately notified to handle the situation at the scene, and the case is now being handled by the railway police. The TRA solemnly urges the public to respect and cherish life and to refrain from trespassing on railway lines to prevent accidents, which cause delays to passenger journeys and affect the public's right to travel.
