Taiwan's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu (Lin Chia-lung) stated during an interview with Poland's public English-language channel (TVP World) that Taiwan possesses the "capability and determination" to deter a Chinese military invasion. Wu made these remarks today in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, while attending the "GLOBSEC Global Security Forum," also expressing confidence in the United States as a strategic security partner. When asked by a TVP World reporter if he was confident the US would provide support if China invaded Taiwan, Wu responded: "We are confident, and we will continue to maintain our partnership with the United States." He noted that Taiwan has increased its defense budget and maintains close ties with Washington, stating, "Based on these foundations, we will cooperate with like-minded partners to safeguard our security." Wu's exclusive interview with TVP World came shortly after a summit in Beijing between US President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, where issues including Taiwan Strait security were discussed.
