NVIDIA High-End Chip Servers Illegally Shipped to Hong Kong, Keelung Prosecutors Seize 50 Units

The Keelung District Prosecutors' Office in Taiwan launched an investigation into three individuals, including a man surnamed You, for allegedly using false declaration documents to export servers equipped with NVIDIA's high-end chips to Hong Kong, after initially shipping them to a Northeast Asian country. These high-end AI servers, manufactured by Supermicro and containing specific NVIDIA chips, are subject to strict US export controls, prohibiting their sale to China, Hong Kong, and Macau. The suspects reportedly purchased dozens of these servers, each valued over NT$10 million, in Taiwan. They then declared false cargo names and destinations (a Northeast Asian country) for shipment from a northern Taiwanese port, with the ultimate destination being Hong Kong. Prosecutors conducted searches at 12 locations across Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, and Taichung, seizing 50 NVIDIA high-end chip servers, mobile phones, computers, account books, luxury cars, and over NT$9 million in cash. The three suspects were detained and are facing charges including exercising altered private documents and causing public officials to make false entries in documents.
