Tainan Vocational Expo Opens to Help Junior High Students with Self-Exploration

(CNA, Tainan, May 21, by reporter Yang Szu-jui) The Tainan City 2026 Vocational Education Expo opened today at the Kun Shan University Gymnasium, aiming to help junior high school students understand vocational education through vocational cluster displays, hands-on experiences, and interactive challenges. A parent-child session is scheduled for the morning of the 23rd to encourage parents to participate with their children. Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-cher, attending the opening ceremony in the afternoon, stated in his speech that with the rapid development of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and drones, the importance of vocational education is also growing. He emphasized that only through solid professional skills and practical abilities can technology be truly applied to daily life and drive urban progress. He said that Tainan City has been actively promoting AI and technology education in recent years, taking the lead nationwide in strengthening related teaching resources and practical applications. The city continues to integrate hardware, software learning, and teacher training, hoping to cultivate more talent that meets industry demands. Huang also encouraged students to use the vocational expo to experience and explore various fields, discover their own interests and strengths, find future academic and career paths, and bravely showcase their talents. According to information from the Tainan City Government's Bureau of Education, Tainan has been holding the junior high vocational expo since 2015, marking its 12th year. The cumulative number of participants has exceeded 32,000, making it a significant brand for promoting technical education and career exploration in Tainan. The Bureau of Education pointed out that this year's exhibition covers categories such as health and nursing, aquaculture, design, arts, maritime, hospitality, home economics, food science, agriculture, foreign languages, business, civil engineering, chemical engineering, electrical & electronic engineering, power mechanics, and machinery. Through cluster displays, hands-on experiences, and interactive challenges, the event guides students to understand the learning content and workplace applications of different vocational fields through hands-on operations, serving as a reference for their academic and career choices.
