Meta explained in a press release that music has always been one of the most active community topics on Threads. From live reports at music festivals, hip-hop creation exchanges, concert reviews, and real-time support from K-pop fans to daily playlist sharing, music has become an indispensable cultural element on the platform. Now, Threads is starting to test a new interactive experience where users can select a song from a licensed music library and freely choose a 30-second highlight clip to attach to their post or reply. There are three visual styles to choose from: a "simple mode" that directly lists the song title and original artist, a "lyrics mode" that displays lyrics from the selected segment, and a nostalgic "vinyl record animation mode" featuring the album cover. Users can not only listen to the unique soundtrack of each post but also reply to others' posts directly with music.
