TSMC Foundation Facilitates School Exchange, Encouraging Empathy Among Yunlin Students

(CNA, by reporter Chiang Yi-ching, Yunlin County, 21st) Under the arrangement of the TSMC Charity Foundation, an exchange and learning activity was held between Xi-Lun Elementary School in Yunlin County and the National Experimental High School at Hsinchu Science Park. Foundation Chairperson Sophie Chang expressed her hope that from science education to ecological exploration, everyone would treat others with love and empathy. Arranged by the TSMC Charity Foundation, the four-day exchange program between Xi-Lun Elementary School and the National Experimental High School at Hsinchu Science Park began on the 19th. Today, a volunteer team from TSMC's Advanced Packaging Technology and Service (APTS) visited Xi-Lun Elementary School to design a 'Wind Power Science Experiment Education' course, transforming technology and semiconductor concepts into fun science experiments to guide rural children in exploring the world of green energy and wind science. Afterwards, the students visited the Cheng Lin Agarwood Forest Museum, where they deeply experienced biodiversity and environmental education through outdoor tours and app-based exploration, further understanding the importance of sustainable development. Sophie Chang was present to cheer on the students from both schools, taking photos with teachers, students, and volunteers to convey her care. Chang said that the students learned about wind power on campus in the morning and experienced things beyond their textbooks outdoors in the afternoon. From science education to ecological exploration, the companionship of the volunteers is like seeds of hope sown for everyone, providing nourishment for the students. She hopes everyone will treat others and themselves with love and empathy. Jim Ho, Vice President of Advanced Packaging Technology and Service at TSMC, stated that TSMC upholds the principle of integrating into the local community and encouraging employees to appreciate and understand the local environment. With the significant development of TSMC's advanced packaging driven by the AI wave, employees are usually very busy and under high pressure. They believe that volunteering is one of the best ways to balance work and life, relieving stress in the process. Previously, volunteers conducted science outreach in rural areas to impart technological knowledge. This time in Yunlin, they stepped into nature, showing students that employees continue to learn outside of work. Volunteering is a two-way street, not just a one-way act of giving; it enhances one's own abilities and awareness. Regarding rumors that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will arrive in Taiwan next week, Sophie Chang noted that the two always meet whenever Huang is in Taiwan, but the time has not yet been confirmed. Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan thanked the TSMC Charity Foundation for its long-term assistance in promoting education in Yunlin and praised the urban-rural exchange activity, encouraging children to broaden their life perspectives through diverse experiences.
