Following the recent Beigang Mazu pilgrimage, the manga 'Stitches: The People Who Repair Time' was released today, depicting the restoration process of the 'Great Dragon Flag' of the Beigang Feilong Troupe, which is designated as an important cultural relic. The manga also highlights the significant role the flag played in past pilgrimages. Published through a collaboration between the Bureau of Cultural Heritage and Gaea Books, the work was created by manga artist Wei Li-ruo-ming, a recipient of the Japan International Manga Award. Bureau Director Chen Chi-min noted that it took 10 years to restore the flag, emphasizing the complexity of the work. The Great Dragon Flag has a long history, dating back to at least 1929. Wei Li-ruo-ming interviewed several restoration experts to capture their sense of mission and professional details. In recent years, many Taiwanese manga have explored historical themes, and this work aims to introduce the professional world of cultural relic restoration to the public.
