The Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet arrived in Taiwan this evening and will present a chamber music feast at the Tainan Cultural Center on the 23rd. Matthew Hunter, the violist and a member of the quartet, said, "Elon Musk needs a rocket to go to outer space, but with music, everyone can reach every planet." The quartet consists of violinist Luis Esnaola, violist Matthew Hunter, cellist Knut Weber, and pianist Markus Groh, a gold medalist of the Queen Elisabeth Competition. They will perform three of Brahms' piano quartets. According to the press release from MNA (Management of New Arts), to help Tainan fans understand the musical world of Brahms' piano quartets, the concert will begin at 11:30 AM, with guided listening discussions before each piece. Hunter said, "Don't be afraid of chamber music; come as you are, open your heart and ears, and you don't need to bring anything to enjoy and understand the music." Groh stated, "If Brahms' symphonies are like embracing the whole world, his chamber music is more like his private, personal self-portrait." This concert is planned as an all-day immersive experience. After the first half, a one-hour intermission is arranged, allowing music fans to leisurely walk out of the concert hall to the holiday plaza market to enjoy refreshments and local delicacies, hoping that classical music will no longer just be a distance between the stage and the audience, but truly integrated into the unique slow-living style of Tainan.
