Carbon-Based Technology Plans Lawsuit; KMT Vows to Continue Oversight

According to the Central News Agency, KMT lawmakers have questioned whether the chairman and others at drone manufacturer Carbon-Based Technology have close ties to the DPP, alleging that government budgets were obtained by a 'green-friendly' company. Carbon-Based Technology has refuted these claims. Lin Pei-hsiang, secretary-general of the KMT legislative caucus, stated on the 22nd that the KMT respects the company's decision to take legal action but expresses deep regret, adding that the party will not stop its efforts to expose corruption and conduct oversight. KMT lawmakers emphasized that it is their duty to monitor national budgets and expose potential scandals to the public. They vowed to continue safeguarding taxpayers' money. Carbon-Based Technology issued a statement saying the accusations are completely inconsistent with the facts and have seriously damaged the company's reputation. They have retained lawyers to preserve evidence and reserve the right to pursue legal action. Legislator Lo Ting-wei stated that the KMT is not accusing all drone companies, but only those trying to profit through 'green-friendly' status. Legislator Wang Hung-wei emphasized that the KMT supports the drone industry but does not support 'green-friendly' companies using privileges to crowd out legitimate businesses. Legislator Hsu Chih-hsin questioned how the company went from a loss-making entity to securing major military contracts, suggesting potential insider deals.
