Dense fog in Kinmen since early morning on the 22nd has delayed flights for athletes traveling to Taiwan for the National Games for the Disabled. The Kinmen County Government stated it is doing its best to coordinate extra flights and military aircraft to ensure the athletes can depart as planned. The 2026 National Games for the Disabled will be held in New Taipei City from tomorrow until the 26th. The Kinmen County delegation received their flag from Deputy Magistrate Li Wen-liang this morning, who encouraged them to give their all and strive for excellence. However, due to the fog, some morning flights were canceled. Operations resumed around noon, but some delegation members have already experienced travel delays. Huang Ya-fen, Director of the Kinmen County Education Department, who attended the flag-presentation ceremony, told the media that the Deputy Magistrate has ordered coordination with the Tourism Department to arrange extra flights if necessary, or even military transport if needed, to ensure the athletes can travel. Huang noted that besides the athletes, students participating in other competitions are also affected, with over 80 people impacted in total. She hopes the weather improves so flights can return to normal. According to the Kinmen County Sports Development Center, Kinmen is sending 19 athletes to compete in four events: track and field, badminton, boccia, and Special Olympics boccia.
