Wei Chuan Dragons outfielder Lin Hsiao-cheng experienced hyperventilation during a game on the 22nd. This is the third or fourth time he has faced this issue, and with no known cause, he once considered leaving the field. During the game against the CTBC Brothers at the Taipei Dome, Lin reached base on an infield hit in the top of the 9th inning. While attempting to steal, he slid and hit his chest, which led to difficulty breathing. Lin stated that he has experienced this since college, and with no family history of heart disease, it is frustrating not to find a cause. Besides shortness of breath, the symptoms include blackouts and dizziness. Lin admitted, "Because of this, I thought about quitting baseball over the past two years, but I decided that as long as I can play, I will continue." He now cherishes the time he can play healthily and gives his all in every moment on the field.
