Explosion at New York Dry Dock Leaves 1 Dead, 36 Injured

At the time, firefighters were on the scene responding to a fire and attempting to rescue two trapped individuals when the explosion occurred. Reuters reported that two firefighters were hospitalized, including a fire captain who suffered a temporal bone fracture and brain hemorrhage and is currently intubated. Another firefighter was seriously injured but is showing signs of improvement. New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani told the media, 'This was a complex and rapidly evolving emergency.' Officials did not provide details on the deceased, only stating it was a civilian. A full investigation will be launched once the fire is completely extinguished.
