Taiwan's Representative to the US: Chip Production Capacity is a 'Solution' for the US

Representative Alexander Yui, in an interview with US media, pushed back against President Trump's characterization of a 'Taiwan problem,' asserting that China is the true provocateur attempting to change the status quo in the Taiwan Strait. Yui emphasized that Taiwan's robust semiconductor manufacturing capabilities serve as a solution for the US as it pursues re-industrialization. Following his visit to China, Trump had suggested he would speak with President Lai Ching-te and 'deal with the Taiwan problem.' Yui countered that Taiwan is a solution, noting that 95% of the world's high-end chips are produced in Taiwan, with major US firms like AMD, Nvidia, and Apple relying on TSMC. Furthermore, Taiwanese companies have committed to investing $250 billion in the US, covering semiconductors and AI. Yui also expressed hope for the $14 billion arms sale to maintain Taiwan's defense capabilities.
