A fatal drug-impaired driving accident occurred in Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, on the 23rd. A 50-year-old man, surnamed Wang, suspected of using the anesthetic drug etomidate, struck a scooter at the intersection of Jingping Road and Dayong Street. The 71-year-old rider and her 64-year-old sister were knocked down. Wang then drove forward, running over both women. The younger sister was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead. Police found the suspect tested positive for drugs and seized etomidate cartridges and paraphernalia from his vehicle. The prosecutor has requested the court to detain Wang on charges of public endangerment.
