Russian Airstrikes on Ukraine Kill 4, Injure Nearly 100; Kyiv Shopping Mall and Metro Engulfed in Flames

Russian forces launched massive airstrikes across Ukraine early on the 24th. Ukraine reported that Russia fired 90 missiles and 600 drones, resulting in at least 4 deaths and nearly 100 injuries. Kyiv was the primary target. Residential and commercial areas in Kyiv were affected, with fires breaking out near metro stations and damage reported at the Chernobyl Museum. President Zelenskyy stated that Russia used ballistic missiles and drones, including the 'Oreshnik' medium-range ballistic missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads, against the outskirts of Kyiv. Kyiv authorities reported fires in at least eight districts due to falling debris. Rescue operations are ongoing. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed the strikes were retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on civilian infrastructure within Russia.
