Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, stated today that Russia launched a massive nighttime airstrike on Kyiv, which not only hit a school but also caused a fire. AFP reported that Klitschko posted on Telegram: "A school in the Shevchenkivsky district was hit," adding that a fire broke out there and it is currently unclear if there are any casualties. The intense explosions shocked the entire city, and Ukrainian authorities immediately ordered residents to take cover in shelters. Prior to this, Moscow authorities had threatened to retaliate against Ukraine for attacks on Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine, claiming that the operation resulted in 18 deaths at a university dormitory.
