Regarding a complaint posted online by a Taichung citizen about an elderly passenger being trapped in a bus door for nearly 30 seconds while the bus was in motion, the city's Transportation Bureau announced today that in addition to fines, it will strictly review the operator's annual evaluation. According to the post, around 5 PM yesterday, on a No. 72 bus heading to the Tanzi Joint Office Building, a man around 70 years old had his head trapped in the door while the bus was moving. Passengers shouted for the driver to open the door. Chen Chi-ching, an assistant manager at Taichung Bus, stated that the company saw the incident on social media and has disciplined the driver. The Transportation Bureau confirmed the incident and stated that the operator will be fined and its annual evaluation will be strictly reviewed, which will directly affect operational subsidies. The Bureau has also demanded that the operator strengthen driver training.
