Nasire Best, a 21-year-old man shot dead by Secret Service agents outside the White House today, had previous encounters with the Secret Service, including a forced psychiatric hospitalization and an arrest by local police after claiming to be 'Jesus Christ.' CNN reported that Best's social media accounts contained violent threats against President Trump and posts claiming, 'I am actually the Son of God.' The Secret Service stated that a man approached a checkpoint outside the White House and fired at officers, who then shot him dead. A bystander was injured during the exchange. President Trump was inside the White House and was unharmed. According to court documents, law enforcement had encountered Best multiple times near the White House last summer. He was frequently seen loitering around the perimeter, scouting for entry points. On June 26, 2025, he was forcibly hospitalized for obstructing vehicle access. On July 10, 2025, he breached a restricted area and told officers he was Jesus and wanted to be arrested.
