Following fatal accidents caused by drug-impaired driving in Changhua, police launched a major crackdown on May 24th. Authorities conducted random night checks and daytime inspections, seizing 'zombie vapes' and heroin while arresting multiple offenders. On May 22nd, a truck crashed into a storefront in Changhua City, killing two people. Police found 'zombie vapes' (etomidate-laced vapes) in the vehicle. Another accident occurred the next morning when a gravel truck crashed into oncoming traffic, injuring two; the driver tested positive for drugs. The Changhua County Police Bureau stated they are deploying officers to high-risk areas. On the first day, police caught 2 drug-impaired drivers, 5 drunk drivers, and issued 81 citations for major traffic violations. From May 1st to 23rd, the Changhua precinct has already apprehended 16 drug-impaired drivers and 52 drunk drivers. Investigations are ongoing under public endangerment charges.
