A passenger on Mandarin Airlines flight AE779 from Taichung to Penghu became emotionally unstable while waiting for takeoff this morning and demanded to disembark. The airline followed procedures and requested assistance from aviation police. The passenger was taken back to the terminal, and the flight was delayed by nearly an hour. While the flight was waiting for takeoff, the passenger suddenly became emotionally unstable. Although flight attendants tried to calm the passenger down, the passenger insisted on getting off the plane. Other passengers on board recorded the incident and uploaded it to the internet. Mandarin Airlines stated in a press release that a communication dispute occurred between two passengers on board while waiting for takeoff. To maintain cabin order and flight safety, the crew followed procedures and requested assistance from aviation police. The flight subsequently resumed normal operations. The Taichung Branch of the Aviation Police Bureau under the National Police Agency told CNA that the passenger claimed to be feeling unwell. After police were notified, they escorted the passenger back to the terminal, where the passenger left on their own without seeking medical attention. If the airline submits relevant information about the incident, the police will handle it in accordance with the Civil Aviation Act and other regulations. Chang Jui-shu, Director of the Taichung Airport, stated that the flight was delayed by 58 minutes and did not affect the takeoff and landing of other flights.
