The Jiujiufeng Forest Trail in Caotun Township, Nantou County, has been open for over 15 years since its completion in 2011. To enhance visitor safety and improve recreational quality, the Nantou Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency will conduct renovation work from June 5 to November 5. The trail will be closed during the construction period and is scheduled to reopen on November 6. The Nantou Branch stated that the trail is a well-known hiking route in central Taiwan, offering views of mountain ranges, valleys, the central plains, and the Niaozuitan Artificial Lake. Due to the aging of wooden stairs, boardwalks, and railings, the agency has commissioned a professional consulting firm to design a full-line renovation. To ensure visitor safety, the entire trail will be closed. The agency noted that the project will include ecological assessments to minimize disturbance to wildlife and the environment, ensuring that the construction process balances environmental protection with the maintenance of local ecosystems.
