Taiwan Stocks Surge by 1,376.43 Points

Central News Agency (Taipei) The Taiwan stock market opened higher and continued to rise throughout the day on May 25, closing up 1,376.43 points at 43,644.40 points, an increase of 3.26%. The total turnover reached NT$1.3013 trillion. The weighted index opened at 42,667.87 points, hitting a high of 43,645.78 and a low of 42,667.87. Excluding financial stocks, the index rose 1,335.36 points to 39,731.68. Among the eight major sectors, machinery and electronics rose 3.83%, while construction fell 1.27%. There were 545 stocks that rose, 482 that fell, and 77 remained unchanged. The top five stocks by trading volume were Uni-President Upgrade 50, Winbond, UMC, Uni-President Taiwan Growth, and PSMC. The top gainers included Fubon Apple 2x, Shuangjian, Fortune, Shing Kong, and Nichidenbo. The top losers included JKO Brent Oil 2x, Longhwa, Ennoconn, Yisheng, and Weijian.
