Missing Anteater 'Heiniu' Found Safe After 7 Days at Taipei Zoo

Taipei Zoo announced on the 20th that an elderly female anteater named 'Heiniu,' nearly 11 years and 10 months old, had gone missing, sparking public concern. On the evening of the 25th, the zoo reported that staff accidentally spotted 'Heiniu' strolling along the park's ring road and successfully brought her back. Preliminary checks confirmed she had no injuries and was in good spirits. 'Heiniu' had entered her outdoor enclosure on the evening of the 18th and disappeared. The zoo had mobilized 65 people to search for her. On the evening of the 25th, while staff were preparing for a meeting, they spotted her crossing the road and immediately coordinated to bring her to the veterinary hospital. During the capture, 'Heiniu' showed remarkable strength and vitality, struggling and scratching a staff member. During the search, the zoo had used automatic cameras and search dogs, but she remained elusive. She will undergo further health checks after resting.
