TAIFEX to Host 28th AFM Annual Meeting Starting June 4, First Time in 15 Years

The Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX) announced today that it will host the 28th Association of Futures Markets (AFM) Annual Meeting in Taipei from June 4 to 5. This is the first time in 15 years that the AFM annual meeting will be held in Taiwan.

TAIFEX stated that the meeting will bring together representatives from exchanges, financial institutions, market infrastructure providers, and information vendors from Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa. The event aims to explore development trends in the derivatives market, promote international market exchange and sharing of practical experience, and showcase the development achievements and international participation of Taiwan's derivatives market.

AFM was established in 1998 to promote exchange and cooperation among member exchanges and institutions. It currently has about 30 members. TAIFEX joined the AFM in 2007 and has been serving as an auditor since 2015, actively participating in its affairs for many years.

TAIFEX noted that as global financial markets continue to evolve, derivatives are becoming increasingly important for risk management and price discovery. By hosting this AFM annual meeting, TAIFEX aims to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with international market institutions, grasp market development trends, and continue to promote the steady development of Taiwan's derivatives market and its integration with international standards.

The AFM annual meeting will focus on several topics, including opportunities and challenges in the development of Asian futures markets, trends in collateral and clearing mechanisms, increasing individual investor participation, the impact of extended trading hours on markets and exchanges, and artificial intelligence and market infrastructure. It will also discuss opportunities brought about by volatility in commodity markets under the influence of geopolitical changes and climate change, as well as the impact of non-traditional products and the digitalization of physical assets on the development of derivatives.
