Central News Agency, Bangkok, May 25. A sexual abuse scandal has erupted within the founding family of Singha, one of Thailand's largest beer brands, drawing significant media attention and sparking a rare wave of victims sharing their painful experiences in conservative Thai society. According to AFP, 29-year-old Siranudh Scott, a fourth-generation member of the Singha family, released an emotional video this month accusing his older brother, Sunit, of sexually abusing him multiple times during his youth. Sunit later denied the allegations online, but the parent company, Boonrawd, removed him from his executive position on the 19th. Siranudh told AFP that the abuse occurred between the ages of 9 and 13. Following his disclosure, several Thai celebrities have shared their own experiences of sexual harassment or assault on social media. Sexual violence has long been a taboo subject in Thailand, but analysts note that this collective speaking out is a rare and significant development.
