Lawmakers Concerned Over Formalistic Nuclear Plant Briefings; NSC Promises Online Responses

According to the Central News Agency, the Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC) held a local briefing in Hengchun in April regarding the license renewal for the Third Nuclear Power Plant. During a legislative committee review, lawmakers expressed concern that the briefings were merely formalistic, as questions were not answered on-site and the scheduling was inconvenient for residents. NSC Chairperson Chen Ming-chen acknowledged the importance of communication and admitted there is room for improvement. NSC official Kao Bin stated that public feedback will be compiled and addressed by relevant agencies, with responses published on the NSC website. The commission aims to improve communication by using clearer language and more visual aids.
