Cheng Li-wun to Visit US; Lin Chia-lung Calls for Diplomatic Unity

Kuomintang (KMT) Chair Cheng Li-wun is scheduled to visit the United States on June 1, with the main focus expected to be on the 'normalization of peace in the Taiwan Strait.' Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung stated today that he expects Cheng to express the government's policies, emphasizing that diplomacy should transcend party lines and represent national interests. He urged everyone to understand that it is China that is destroying peace and changing the status quo, and hoped for unity to avoid falling into the traps of the Chinese Communist Party. Cheng is expected to visit major cities on both the East and West coasts of the US. The Legislative Yuan's Foreign and National Defense Committee invited Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung and National Security Bureau Director-General Tsai Ming-yen to report on the impact of the post-US-China summit geopolitical landscape on Taiwan's diplomacy and security. Lin emphasized that peace relies on strength and that the Taiwanese people and government are determined to defend the nation against China's threats. Regarding Donald Trump's remarks about Taiwan's chip industry, Lin stated that Taiwan and the US are symbiotic partners and that democratic nations should strengthen the resilience of the semiconductor supply chain.
