Taiwan's professional basketball league, P. LEAGUE+ (PLG), announced several annual awards today. The Taoyuan Pauian Pilots, who finished first in the regular season, saw head coach Iurgi Caminos win his third consecutive Coach of the Year award. Meanwhile, the Taipei Fubon Braves, who set a new standard for home games during Lin Chih-chieh's retirement series, won the Best Home Court award.
Aiming for a second consecutive championship, the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots achieved a 21-3 record in the regular season and became the first team in league history to remain undefeated at home. This led head coach Iurgi Caminos to receive 25 out of 26 first-place votes, a well-deserved honor.
As for the Taipei Fubon Braves, their spiritual leader Lin Chih-chieh will retire after this season. The club held a retirement game and ceremony at the Taipei Arena on April 11 and 12, attracting 27,000 fans over two days, with merchandise sales exceeding NT$50 million.
This season, the Braves' total regular-season attendance reached 82,972, with an average of 6,914 fans per game, an 18% increase from last year. It marks the sixth consecutive year they have led the league in attendance. Praised for their venue management and atmosphere, they were awarded the Best Home Court title.
Additionally, the "General Manager of the Year" award went to Pilots Chairman Li Chung-shu and his team. During the off-season, the Pilots signed William Artino to strengthen their interior presence. Despite their home arena, the Taoyuan Arena, being under renovation, they actively sought suitable venues, ensuring that both the team and fans could enjoy exciting games.
