The Taipei Branch of the Railway Police Bureau, National Police Agency, Ministry of the Interior, announced in a press release today that, after reviewing surveillance footage, it has been confirmed that someone was cycling on the platform at the Taiwan Railways Wanhua Station. The police are currently tracing the individual's identity and will subsequently refer the case to the Railway Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications for processing in accordance with the Railway Act. Following a post by a member of the public describing the incident online, the Taipei Branch stated that while they had not yet received a formal report, a review of the surveillance footage confirmed that someone was cycling near the 6th car of Platform 2A at Wanhua Station last night. Once the individual's identity is confirmed, they will be referred to the Railway Bureau for punishment under the Railway Act, which carries a fine of between 1,500 and 7,500 New Taiwan Dollars. The police urge the public not to ride vehicles within stations, on trains, or in railway areas to avoid affecting public safety and facing penalties.
