Central News Agency, Taipei, May 26. The Ministry of the Interior's 'Public Participation Street Improvement Platform' announced the results of its third round of voting today, selecting 10 road sections for priority improvement. Among them, the Donghai Commercial District (Lane 3, Section 5, Taiwan Boulevard, Longjing District, Taichung) received over 26,000 votes, setting a record for the highest number of votes for a single section. According to the Ministry, this round saw over 80,000 votes, the highest participation since the platform's inception. The selected sections include areas in New Taipei City and Taipei City. The Ministry stated that local governments can apply for full central government funding for planning and construction. Expert groups will assist in the process, incorporating local feedback through workshops. The Donghai proposal was led by students from Tunghai University, who formed a 'Street Transformation Front' to rally support from students and residents. The first project selected in the first round, Anju Street in Taipei's Da'an District, has already completed its sidewalk construction, serving as the first successful case in the country.
