The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) stated today that the potential import of migrant workers from diplomatic ally Eswatini is currently in the feasibility assessment stage. Yan Jia-liang, Director-General of the Department of West Asian and African Affairs, noted that Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung visited Eswatini as a special envoy to discuss bilateral cooperation. The current priority is to assist Eswatini in upgrading its vocational training centers. MOFA has coordinated with the Workforce Development Agency under the Ministry of Labor to send personnel to Eswatini from the 24th to the 30th to assess training capabilities in manufacturing, tourism, energy, and construction. Regarding the future import of migrant workers, the government emphasizes that any such plan must comply with Taiwan's regulations and prioritize national security, public health, and the protection of domestic employment to address labor shortages in specific sectors.
