Peking University's Guanghua School of Management issued an obituary today mourning the passing of Samuel Yin, a distinguished Taiwanese entrepreneur and philanthropist, and the founding chairman of the school. The school praised Yin for "opening a new chapter in Chinese business education." Yin founded the Guanghua Education Foundation in 1989 and established the Guanghua Scholarship at Peking University. In 1994, he provided significant funding to help reorganize the school into the Guanghua School of Management, serving as its founding chairman. The obituary highlighted his 30-year partnership with renowned economist Li Yining, emphasizing their shared commitment to education. Yin lived by the motto "take from society, give back to society," supporting academic development at numerous universities and founding the Tang Prize to promote global academic progress. Yin, chairman of the Ruentex Group, passed away this morning at Taipei Veterans General Hospital at the age of 76. He successfully transformed the group from a textile manufacturer into a diversified conglomerate spanning construction, finance, retail, and biotechnology. He also founded the RT-Mart retail chain in 1997, which became one of the largest foreign-invested retailers in mainland China.
