Central News Agency, Yilan, May 26: The Yilan District Prosecutors Office directed the Yilan County Investigation Station this morning to search five locations, including the Disaster Rescue Section of the Yilan County Fire Department and the residences of relevant personnel. Documents were seized, and a section chief and procurement staff were taken in for questioning to determine if any procurement irregularities occurred. Prosecutors conducted simultaneous searches at five locations, including the Fire Department's Disaster Rescue Section and private residences. In addition to seizing documents, several individuals were summoned as witnesses to clarify whether any illegal activities took place during the procurement process. It is understood that the investigation led to the detention of one section chief and relevant procurement staff for questioning. One or two of these individuals are currently treated as witnesses, and prosecutors will decide whether to upgrade their status to defendants after further interrogation. Regarding the search, Yilan County Acting Magistrate Lin Mao-sheng stated in an interview that he had not yet received relevant information and needed to understand the situation. Deputy Fire Chief Hsu Chen-chang stated that the department handles many bids annually and they are still in the process of understanding the situation.
