Amid a rise in drug-impaired driving incidents, legislator Chen Chao-tzu has proposed regulating e-cigarette devices as drug paraphernalia. Premier Cho Jung-tai stated that while e-cigarette devices are already prohibited, the government will work on strengthening anti-drug measures. Citizens have also proposed classifying e-cigarettes as Category 3 narcotics to impose criminal penalties. The ease of consuming synthetic drugs like etomidate through e-cigarettes is cited as a major factor in the increase of drug-impaired driving cases.
