According to CNA reporter Yeh Su-ping, the DPP is considering a "double hen" joint regional strategy for the 2026 local elections in northern Taiwan. In response, New Taipei mayoral candidate Su Tsao-hui and Taipei mayoral candidate Puma Shen emphasized that Taipei and New Taipei share a common living circle and will work together to achieve "Twin City Prosperity" while maintaining the autonomy of each city. During a press conference held by over 20 Hakka organizations, both candidates noted that Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Taoyuan, and Yilan are neighboring cities that should coordinate policies. Su emphasized, "We compete when necessary, but cooperate when we need to be stronger." Shen jokingly added, "If Tsao-hui is the leader, I am the 'neck' (a play on his name), and together we will make both cities better." Shen also expressed his vision for promoting Hakka culture in Taipei, aiming to leverage the capital's influence to create tourism value.
