Following the conviction and subsequent escape of businessman Zhong Wenzhi, the Taipei District Prosecutors Office discovered that a police officer surnamed Xu from the Daan Precinct and a specialist surnamed Lin from the National Police Agency (NPA) were allegedly involved in assisting Zhong by querying his personal data. Today, authorities conducted searches at 12 locations, including the suspects' residences and offices, and summoned several individuals for questioning. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office stated that this case is part of an internal investigation by the NPA and the Taipei City Police Department. The NPA emphasized its full cooperation with the investigation, stating it will not shield any wrongdoing. The Daan Precinct has issued two demerit points to Officer Xu and reassigned him. Zhong Wenzhi, who was sentenced to 18 years for securities fraud, remains a fugitive after failing to report to the police.
