Central News Agency, Penghu, May 26. A public art piece symbolizing peace and hope, titled "Rotary International Peace Imagery," was unveiled today at the Magong Third Fishing Port International Plaza. It is set to become a new landmark for Penghu and a significant symbol of international exchange and peace education. The piece was unveiled by Penghu Deputy Magistrate Lin Chieh-hsing, Deputy Speaker Lan Kai-yuan, and Rotary Club of Tainan Peace President Hsu Ying-chi, among others. Hsu expressed gratitude for the support of the Penghu County Government and Council, noting that 12 Rotary districts across Taiwan collaborated to build this piece. Deputy Magistrate Lin remarked that Penghu is like a large park, and the lilies planted in the plaza also symbolize peace. The artwork incorporates a sundial design, using the changing light and shadows to convey the profound meaning that "peace requires time to cultivate and accumulate." The base is circular, featuring a white dove sculpture in the center, and 12 pillars representing the 12 Rotary districts in Taiwan working together to promote the vision of peace.
