Actress Wang Yu-chieh shared her thoughts on marriage on the show 'Dee Girls Talk.' She has been dating her current boyfriend for 15 years, but revealed that a proposal from him a few years ago was a 'disaster.' There were no flowers, only Shine Muscat grapes, leaving her stunned and choosing to treat the event as if it 'never happened.' Wang appeared on the show hosted by Dee Hsu and Patrick. The episode focused on the theme 'Just Don't Want to Get Married! Is Living Alone More Relaxed and Free?' discussing the sentiments of modern women who choose to remain single. According to the show's press release, Wang admitted that while she had considered marriage when she was younger, her mother, who married early, had instilled in her from a young age that 'it is most important for a woman to be successful in her career and have her own money; relying on yourself is the most secure path.' This led her to focus on her work for many years. When she revealed she has been in a stable relationship for nearly 15 years, Dee Hsu couldn't help but ask, 'In these 15 years, has he never asked you to marry him?' Wang admitted that he did propose during a trip to Japan, but described it as a 'completely unromantic disaster.' She explained that despite the trip having many beautiful spots and high-end restaurants, her boyfriend chose their messy hotel room, piled with shopping and daily clutter. Wang, who had just removed her makeup and was about to change into pajamas, saw her boyfriend's uncontrollable smile and had a bad feeling. Sure enough, he pulled out a proposal banner. Wang, who wasn't wearing her contact lenses and had blurry vision, asked, 'Where are the flowers?' To her shock, he replied, 'I bought Shine Muscat! Flowers are useless, don't you like eating grapes?' The absurd answer made Dee Hsu shout, 'How are grapes the same as fresh flowers!' Not knowing how to react, Wang deferred by saying, 'I'll answer you next time you propose,' and has since treated the proposal as if it never happened.
