(CNA, Taipei, May 26) Wang Chia-huang, Chairman of semiconductor testing interface manufacturer WinWay Technology, stated today that with the new Kaohsiung plant coming online, the company expects its performance in the second half of this year to hit record highs quarter by quarter. Demand for existing capacity is already booked 5 to 6 months in advance, and the company continues to expand probe production capacity in Taiwan. Meanwhile, the construction of a plant in North America is under evaluation, with potential locations being either Arizona or Dallas, Texas.
During a media briefing, Wang noted that market demand has far exceeded initial expectations, primarily benefiting from strong demand for AI chip platform testing interfaces. Taiwan's semiconductor supply chain is complete and vital to the global market, covering raw materials, wafers, packaging, and testing. Major manufacturers are actively expanding capacity, and the overall advanced semiconductor process sector is extremely busy.
Looking ahead, Wang expects quarterly revenue growth throughout the year as new capacity comes online. He remarked that since WinWay's founding in 2001, there has never been a year where customers booked orders six months in advance, highlighting the current urgency of demand.
Regarding probe and component capacity, Wang stated that the Kaohsiung Nanzi plant is expected to reach a monthly capacity of 6 million probes in the first half of this year, rising to 9 million by year-end. The new plant in the Kaohsiung Renwu Industrial Park is scheduled to begin mass production in the second quarter of next year, boosting monthly probe capacity to 14 million, ahead of the original schedule.
Wang described the urgency of customer orders by saying that when asked for delivery dates, customers always reply "Yesterday." Consequently, WinWay is prioritizing capacity maximization.
On silicon photonics testing, Wang confirmed that WinWay is actively developing solutions for both wafer-level and backend packaging testing to meet customer automation requirements.
Regarding AI chip Functional Burn-In (BI) testing, Wang expects significant order volumes starting in the fourth quarter of this year.
As for regional expansion, WinWay's primary capacity remains in Taiwan. The company is scouting for facilities in Southeast Asia and does not rule out acquisitions. In North America, the company is evaluating sites in Arizona or Dallas to meet the high-end testing needs of US-based AI data center clients. (Edited by Yang Lan-hsuan) 1150526
