A kindergarten bus carrying young children was involved in a collision with a car in Tuku Township, Yunlin County, today. The accident resulted in minor injuries to the bus driver and an accompanying teacher, while all 11 children on board remained uninjured. Neither driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol, and the cause of the accident is currently under investigation. The Huwei Precinct of the Yunlin County Police Bureau issued a press release stating that they received a report at 7:54 AM regarding a traffic accident at the intersection of the Yun 101 township road and an industrial road in Pijiao Village, Tuku Township, and immediately dispatched officers to the scene. Police stated that a car driven by a man surnamed Wu was traveling from the industrial road onto the Yun 101 road, where the traffic light was flashing red. A bus driven by a man surnamed Hsieh was traveling straight along the Yun 101 road, where the light was flashing yellow. The two vehicles collided at the intersection. The collision caused neck contusions to Hsieh and abrasions to the accompanying teacher. The driver of the car was uninjured. The 11 children on the bus were all uninjured, though they were frightened. There was no evidence of overloading. The traffic unit of the Huwei Precinct is handling the case to clarify liability. Police are urging drivers to slow down when passing through intersections and to be mindful of vehicles on both sides to avoid traffic accidents.
