Central News Agency, Kaohsiung, May 26. Kaohsiung has reported its first local case of dengue fever this year. The city's epidemic prevention team has been conducting emergency control measures in the alert zone for several days. During a follow-up inspection yesterday, they found stagnant water in potted plants at a residence breeding mosquitoes. The owner was fined 15,000 NTD in accordance with the Communicable Disease Control Act. A total of 8 fines have been issued so far. The Health Bureau stated that the team is conducting mandatory removal of breeding sources and chemical control. Simultaneously, they are expanding testing around the patient's residence, workplace, and activity areas. As of today, nearly 460 people have been tested, all with negative PCR results. The Health Bureau warned that the positive container rate for disease-carrying mosquitoes has risen to 13.12%, indicating a rising density and a severe risk of a major outbreak. Citizens are urged to practice 'patrol, dump, clean, and scrub' to prevent mosquito breeding.
