The Water Resources Agency (WRA) announced on the 26th that rainfall since May has significantly replenished reservoirs across Taiwan. The Baoshan and Baoshan No. 2 reservoirs in Hsinchu have reached full capacity, while the Feitsui and Techi reservoirs in Taichung have recovered to over 60% and 90% capacity, respectively. Consequently, the water alert status for Hsinchu and Taichung has been downgraded from 'Green' (Alert) to 'Normal.' According to the WRA, the Shihmen Reservoir in Taoyuan is at 68% capacity, and the Yongheshan Reservoir in Miaoli is at 89%. Weather forecasts indicate potential rainfall from late May through June, which is expected to further stabilize the water supply. In the southern region, where rainfall has been relatively scarce, the WRA will continue to manage water resources and implement conservation measures to ensure sufficient supply for agriculture. The agency emphasized that it will continue to monitor rainfall and work with the Ministry of Agriculture to implement water-saving irrigation strategies while preparing for potential heavy rainfall during the flood season.
