Cognition Announces 'Devin Desktop', an Agent Command Center for Engineering Teams

San Francisco — June 2, 2026 — Cognition, a global leader in autonomous AI agents for software development (CEO and Co-founder: Scott Wu), today announced the launch of 'Devin Desktop', the next generation of Windsurf. As autonomous agents become central to software development, Devin Desktop integrates an agent command center with the editor already used by millions of developers, providing engineering teams with an environment to centrally manage and coordinate all AI agents.

Devin Desktop aggregates essential features for engineering teams into a single workspace. It includes a full-featured code editor, a command center for managing all AI agents working across the team's projects, and a new local agent with up to 30% improved efficiency compared to previous versions. It also ensures a consistent experience with the same Devin agent regardless of whether the engineer is working on the desktop, cloud, or command line.

The nature of software development is at a turning point. Previously, individual AI tools improved the efficiency of a single engineer, but the next generation of software development involves multiple agents operating in parallel across codebases, tasks, and environments.
