Moonriders Announce First New Album in Approximately 4 Years, Questioning a Stagnant Modern Era. Reaching Beyond 'Geriatric Rock'—50th Anniversary Original Album 'e.d morrison' to Be Released August 26!

This new album features contributions from all members, each providing one song, and marks the full participation of Sawabe Wataru and Sato Yusuke, who have recently delivered precise and deeply respectful support in live performances. The album blends tracks created through full-band live recording sessions with individual song contributions that reflect both societal movements and the members' current perspectives, resulting in a rich and diverse work. While their 2022 release boldly proclaimed 'geriatric rock,' this new album once again pushes the boundaries of Japanese rock music, achieving a unique 'Moonriders sound' through defiant spirit, profound insight, literary lyrics, and genre-defying sonic textures. As before, all members take turns on lead vocals and contribute to backing vocals. Recorded with the cooperation of Sound Crew Studio, the album also features a wide array of instruments.

Over their 50-year career, Moonriders have consistently pursued avant-garde musical expression, and this new work stands as a complex statement addressing the stagnation of the modern age.

The title 'e.d morrison' is an anagram of 'moonriders.'

Since the 1980s, this name has been used as a credit when all members collaborate on songwriting. By choosing 'e.d morrison' as the title for this album, the band—Kashibuchi Tetsuro, Okada Toru, and all Moonriders members—affirms this work as a collective creation.

Moonriders

Formed in 1975, Moonriders are one of Japan's most iconic rock bands. Emerging from the legendary band 'Hachimitsu Pie,' they are a highly skilled musical collective in which every member contributes to songwriting, lyrics, and production.

Since their 1976 debut, they have remained at the forefront of Japan's music scene, quickly embracing cutting-edge sounds of each era—new wave, techno, punk—earning them a vast following both in Japan and abroad.

Current members are Keiichi Suzuki, Masahiro Takekawa, Fumihiko Suzuki, Yoshiaki Shirai, Fuminobu Natsuki, with two younger musicians in their 30s—Wataru Sawabe (Skirt) and Yusuke Sato—joining as support, forming a seven-member lineup.
