Your Vote Decides Japan's Best Material: 'Japan Material Koshien Shizuoka' Gathers Regional Foods and Materials on May 30th-31st

Mirai Machi Keikaku Kiko (Secretariat: COMMON Inc.) is set to hold 'Japan Material Koshien Shizuoka,' an event designed to promote the appeal of primary industries, local materials, and food culture from across Japan. The event will take place on May 30 (Sat) and 31 (Sun), 2026, at the Momijiyama Garden Square in Sumpu Castle Park, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

This event is a participatory project centered on the theme of 'materials.' It provides a space where visitors can discover the charm of various regions by 'eating, looking, touching, and enjoying.' The venue will feature a variety of areas including a material zone, food truck zone, marche zone, music stage, kids' park, disaster stockpile cars, and food education workshops, offering entertainment for all ages.

The slogan of the event is 'Your vote decides Japan's best material.' Every vote cast by visitors helps support local materials, producers, and businesses. By addressing the challenges faced by Japan's primary industries—such as an aging population, lack of pricing power, and insufficient awareness—the project aims to visualize the value of these industries through not only display and sales, but also through 'eating experiences' and 'voting experiences.'

Event highlights include: 1. Material & Food Truck Area: Featuring attractive ingredients and diverse food genres from across Japan. 2. Music Stage: Various performers including dancers and DJs will enliven the venue. 3. Marche Area & Kids' Park: Local specialty products, stalls, and children's amusement facilities will be available. 4. Disaster Stockpile Car: As part of an effort to connect 'food' and 'disaster prevention,' the 'Rethink Disaster Stockpile Car' will be exhibited, distributing a total of 1,000 'disaster stockpile rice balls' produced by Manpuku Co., Ltd. (based in Miyazaki City). 5. Food Education 'Waku-Shoku-Sai': Workshops by School Yell will allow participants to learn about food culture and primary industries through activities like making school lunch keychains and regional quizzes.
