Survey of 1,000 Young Business Professionals on 'Career Vision': 70% Have a Vision, but 1 in 3 Say It 'Cannot Be Realized in Their Current Job.' Over 90% of Those Who Cannot Realize Their Vision in Their Current Role Are Considering Changing Jobs.

(Headquarters: Shinjuku, Tokyo; Chairman and President: Michikatsu Ochi), which operates the scout-based recruitment service for young high-potential professionals 'AMBI' (https://en-ambi.com/), conducted a survey on 'career vision' among users aged 39 and under, receiving 1,077 responses. The summary is as follows. Survey Summary ・Over 70% of young professionals answered they have a 'career vision.' The most common way they discovered it was 'naturally found while performing assigned tasks.' ・Approximately 1 in 3 people say their career vision 'cannot be realized in their current job.' It has become clear that over 90% of those who cannot realize their vision in their current role are considering changing jobs. ・More than half report that their current company lacks systems to help realize career visions, such as internal transfer requests or internal job posting systems. About 1 in 4 people have never been asked about their career vision by a supervisor or senior colleague. Survey Details 1: Over 70% of young professionals have a 'career vision.' The top reason for discovering it was 'naturally found while performing assigned tasks.' (Figures 1-3) When we asked AMBI users aged 39 and under about their career vision, 73% answered they have one (23% have a clear vision, 50% have a vague one). Among those with a vision, the top reason for discovering it was 'naturally found while performing assigned tasks' (49%). By age group, responses with a difference of over 10 percentage points were 'had it since student days' (20s: 37%, 30s: 24%) and 'life events including marriage/childbirth' (20s: 8%, 30s: 19%). When we asked those who answered they 'do not really have' or 'do not have' a career vision about their future career plans, 'want to engage in job hunting' was the most common response for both 20s and 30s (20s: 57%, 30s: 58%).
