Timee, Inc. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Rei Ogawa), the provider of the 'Timee' gig work service, has concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement with Minamiise Town, Mie Prefecture (Mayor: Kunihito Kamimura).
Located in the southern part of Mie Prefecture, approximately 60% of Minamiise Town is designated as part of the Ise-Shima National Park. Blessed with a rich natural environment and diverse marine resources, the fishing industry is a primary driver of the local economy, boasting one of the highest landing volumes in the prefecture. In the mountainous areas, the warm climate supports thriving cultivation of citrus fruits, such as Unshu mandarins. However, the town faces challenges in securing labor for local industries due to rapid population decline and an aging society.
Under this agreement, the town and Timee will expand the use of spot work to address chronic labor shortages in local industries. By leveraging the convenience of spot work, which allows people to work for short periods at their preferred times and locations, the initiative aims to enable various generations, including parenting households and seniors, to choose diverse work styles without constraints on time or purpose. Furthermore, it aims to create 'related populations'—people who have ongoing connections with the region—by connecting them with workers from other areas. Guided by its mission to 'create an infrastructure that expands life's possibilities through work,' Timee is committed to working with Minamiise Town to solve regional issues.
Scope of Initiative
Timee and Minamiise Town will provide various support to local businesses and workers both inside and outside the town.
- Initiatives to create and expand 'related populations' by using spot work as a new point of engagement with the region. - Proposals for lifestyles that combine work and residence, keeping in mind dual-residency or future migration. - Conducting briefings and other sessions for local businesses to introduce spot work. - Providing support for using spot work, such as proposing methods for outsourcing business tasks. - Promoting diverse employment opportunities and flexible work styles for town residents.
Cooperation with Local Governments
To date, Timee has entered into partnership agreements with 91 municipalities across 41 prefectures. This partnership marks the 91st municipality in the 41st prefecture.
