Toyo Keizai Inc. has released a new book by Kinokuniya Chairman Masashi Takai, detailing the success of the Arao City Library in Kumamoto Prefecture. The library, integrated within a commercial mall and co-managed by Kinokuniya, achieved a milestone of 1 million cumulative visitors within four years despite the city's small population. The book highlights the "tripartite" model of local government, commercial facilities, and bookstores as a blueprint for bridging education gaps and revitalizing regional economies through digital and physical community spaces.
